Thanx for the comments on my work, involving the patrol boat in a three hundred and sixty degree render, the water may be a bit unnatural because I gave it as muct Bump lift as I could I just need to round of the texture to make it more fluid at such an extreme angle, I liked the clouds too, reminds me of a sky filled with diesel fumes from sunk or burning sea vessels, it can downloaded for free off the web to be used in bryce just google 'agoria skies for bryce'. Keep up the terragen renders, its easily mastered and you no doubt will have some interesting ideas.

Well, I start basic on December 13th....then after I graduate basic, I have to stay at Great Lakes to start on my A school training as a Dental Technician. Originally I wanted to be a photographer or a journalist, but one has to be a citizen to be in that program. Since DT was second on my list I went for that. I feel that the training will be exceptionally good in the ned because after my 5 year stint, I'll be able to use the skills that I've learned and apply it to the medical sector in the civilian world. Simultaneously I'll be going after my Masters Degree in INternational studies, but since there is a free college course that is offered to all Naval Personnel, I'm might as well take advantage of that. So, hopefully by the time I get out, I'll have the Dental Tech training, money saved up for college (vis a vis MGIB) and an extra Bachelors degree and most importantly, all my previous student loans paid off. I'll be significantly ahead of the game which will put me in a fuck off better standing than most college graduates in the civilian sector.

Plus, I am interested in becoming an officer. However, since I am a citizen of Great Britain, that poses a problem. I'd have to apply for US citizenship in order to be an officer. But if it does happen, my target goal is to make Lieutenant Commander within ten years. But we shall see. If not, I'll just press on with the above plan and work for the UN afterwards.

So you talk about hilarity while in basic eh? Well, I hope its true becasue I get demoralized very easily. But if I can put up with the British educational system for 7 years, I should be able to withstand 2 months of intense training. But thanks for the advice though! Its greatly appreciated.

As for where I am going to be stationed, I might be stationed on the West Coast since my family is in CA. But I did have my eye on Enterprise, Bataan or a European Naval base (Spain, England, Italy) but we shall see once I'm settled in...

Again thanks for the advice.

wow :) nice to see someone really motivated ^_^

My main advice for the beginning is to just remember that you will be yelled at...even if you do EVERYTHING perfectly... they will still yell at you :D so don't let it get to you, and take it one day at a time...

my worse problem was that i found everything to be hilarious... when they are yelling at you, they don't appreciate you laughing about it

So, I wish you the best of luck, and I'll see you in the fleet! :salute:

when are you heading out?

Hello old boy,

I'm not in the British Army...in fact I'm going into the US Navy in December as a Dental Tech 3. After college a change of perspective and job is nice. Not only that there are certain things that I need to learn while I am in the Navy, vis-a-vis hand to hand combat, electornics, dental hygience, firing a weapon, physical fitness all that good stuff.

Maybe after two years, I'll try tyo get citizenship and go officer. OR finish my service with the USN and transfer to the Royal Navy as an Officer.

Its also part and parcel of my ultimate job which is working for the UN. Hopefully, I can get a degree in International Studies and then try to get deployed to a UN mission somewhere in Africa or Asia and help out in the medical field.

So that's my goal....
Any advice for RTC? I know I;m being sent to Great Lakes for RT but its going to be int he dead of winter. My main worry is being ordered to stand watch in the snow....

I've already memorized the 11 Gen Orders and the Creed... and I know the rank and file system. Anything else that may prove to be of some use that I need to know ahead of time?
